Road safety commisionThe reason for building a dynamic, Driver Training Academy is to allow everyone to improve their driving awareness, habits and skills.

My name is Jacqui Huntley I am an ex driving Instructor, Staff Instructor and trained examiner. I have worked as an early drive instructor and 4×4 off road instructor at Brands Hatch in the UK and now am the customer and communications pit manager for V8 Drive Day at Barbagallo Raceway in Wanneroo Western Australia. I am a nurse and a midwife. I am also a CAMS specialist Medical officer and serve at F1 and a fire and rescue official.

The Road safety commission states that it ‘holds the responsibility of reducing road trauma on WA’s roads through harnessing the knowledge, expertise and interest in our community.

Through a Road Safety Advisory framework, the Commission incorporates a diverse range of interests from the private sector, government agencies and the community, which enable input into policy and initiatives to be researched, developed or implemented.

By collaborating with these groups and key stakeholders, the Road Safety Commission is provided with strategic, operational and tactical advice which ensure innovation, agility and independence in the programs and campaigns developed.

Its aim is to support the state government’s road safety strategy, Towards Zero 2008-2020, and achieve a 40% reduction in people who are killed or seriously injured in crashes on metropolitan and regional roads.  This is achieved through the continuation of delivery and implementation of the strategic directions outlined for a safe system and continues to improve road safety through the four cornerstones of: Safe Road Use, Safe Roads and Roadsides, Safe Speeds, and Safe Vehicles.

The Commission leads the way with mass media campaigns and is also a lead in the development and introduction of policies and legislation to improve road safety in WA’

I think we as a State should support this work and also honor an obligation to improve our road skills and as the department works to improve the road layouts and car manufacturing the IAD is here to assist people to be better road drivers.

Which will involve everyone who wants or needs to improve their driving skills.

IAD role is to improve awareness, knowledge & ability. To build on basic, advanced and dynamic techniques, therefore, drivers will increase their driving skill level, become very confident and comfortable in their ability to drive on the road.

As a result, they change and transform in to confident dynamic highly skilled road drivers plus as a direct result IAD drivers gain increased awareness, can take fast decisive actions and improve coping skills, IAD drivers can confidently challenge general life events & reduce stress levels.
